For Those About To Draft - WE SALUTE YOU!

With the Hickory Algorithm in full swing, the connections we’ve made over the past year have unlocked some incredible opportunities like new clients, new partnerships, our own networking group and now, an extension to the Algorithm itself. But some of the best collaborations don’t begin with a 60 second pitch or a business card.
Sometimes, all it takes is a simple question:
“Wanna come on the Hickory Algorithm Pod and talk some fantasy football?”
That’s how the Fantasy Football Algorithm began, with the idea of the podcast above.
I always say #fortheloveofthegame around here. It’s about more than business. It’s about passion—whether that’s a passion for marketing, connection, storytelling, or in this case, fantasy football.
I met Cameron Pierce and his brother last year through a local networking group. I ended up joining their group, and between the morning meetings and casual conversations, it became clear that Cameron and I spoke the same language when it came to the NFL. We were great fans of the game.
Cameron and I have a combined 42 seasons of fantasy football experience under our belts. I’ll never forget my first Fantasy Football Draft because the first two picks were Marshall Faulk and Kurt Warner. That league started back in 2000. That 24 year league has had many names but right now it’s 828 vs 412. 6 of my fantasy football buddies from Pittsburgh vs 6 of my fantasy football buddies from Hickory, NC. I am though, obligated, when discuss the league to always say the overall standings. 1 Championship to 412 (Pittsburgh) to 0 to 828 (Hickory) - its in the bylaws - standings must be repeated. The group me chat itself is 🔥.
Cam and I decided it was time to turn all that experience into something we have watched and followed for the last 21 years - our own football publication.
I can hear my oldest son saying in the back of my mind “nerds.” 🤣
What started as a one-time podcast appearance turned into a full-on brand expansion:

What Is the Fantasy Football Algorithm?
The FFA is a standalone platform for football content created by people who have lived and breathed the game for decades. It’s not just about rankings and projections—though we’ve got plenty of that. It’s also about league culture, game theory, player trends, late-round QB targets, dynasty insights, and just good fun.
You’ll find it all on our new website and dedicated Substack newsletter, both designed to deliver:
Multiple articles per week, written by CnC (Cameron and Chris - thats pretty good)
Game-day breakdowns and draft prep
Video clips and full-length episodes
Player spotlights, league psychology, and under-the-radar risers
Man vs Machine - We (CnC) go against my WIFE’s ChatGPT (yes, it matters) every week to pick the winners of prime time games
You’ll also be able to follow along with us on the Hickory Algorithm YouTube channel in a dedicated Fantasy Football Algorithm playlist, so even though it’s a separate brand, you’ll see the family resemblance.
Why We’re Keeping It Separate
Some of you reading this newsletter aren’t into fantasy football—and that’s okay. The Hickory Algorithm’s mission is to connect and spotlight small businesses, leaders, and community voices in Hickory, NC. That’s not changing.
But the Fantasy Football Algorithm is for those of us who light up when training camp starts and begin mock drafting in June. If you know what a waiver wire war feels like or have ever yelled at your phone because your flex guy got vultured on the one-yard line… welcome home.
Because of that, the FFA content will not be sent through this newsletter. Just like the Hickory Algorithm focuses on business growth and connection, the FFA will focus exclusively on all things football.
