The Hickory Algorithm
Legos incoming...
I’m not a big lego guy whatsoever. I think I’ve stepped on too many over the course of my life.
The amount of lego clubs in our schools and in our local libraries tell me that getting a brick and mortar place like Bricks and Minifigs in Hickory, North Carolina seems a little overdue.
Luckily, our community is getting one right between Walmart and Lowes, across from CVCC.
Strongly Associated with LEGO
Scrolling through Facebook marketplace looking for lego sets can be such a hassle. You start looking for a certain set, piece, or character. When you find what you're looking for that is just the first step.
Step two, is doing the research if that person is a seller and what their reviews are. It’s like we become a private investigator. Because, it sucks when you buy the lego item or set off market place and it’s missing pieces, or it’s not what was shown and now your in this endless loop of thinking your saving a few dollars but really your just creating more of a hassle.
An authorized dealer cuts all that out with their association with lego. They have the sets, the pieces, and it’s all in there.
The Motto
Their motto really says it all with it being, “rebuild, reuse and reimagine.” That is reflected in everything we do at our stores, including what you will experience as a customer! Come to our stores to find new sets as well as retired LEGO sets and bulk LEGO pieces.
Have LEGO sets or bulk you want to find a new home? This is the place for you!
We Checked the Place Out
Don invited a couple people from our Members Only group to come check out his place before it opened. The place wasn’t set up yet but, the vibe was there. Don and his family are creating a great space to bring the lego community together.
The amount of sets, figures, and resold legos in this place was truly incredible because someone like me, that has no idea of the depth of the lego community - I was pretty impressed.
While Jay (big lego guy) was talking with Don I walked around a little bit looking at all the inventory. There were custom figures that looked like lego funko figures, huge Lord of the rings sets built by Don (Rivendell -hello), and the amount of Star Wars sets that he was naming by year released and how many pieces there are! I was clearly in the mists of someone that has what I like to champion and that is, a little #fortheloveofthegame.
The passion for what they are doing is clearly there, and that’s what up.
I was stunned when I was listening to Don talking about the cost of some of the sets, how far out you have to order them, and how much of a following lego truly has.
If you're a fan of movies, gaming culture, and especially legos just to see what kind of creations are in there. If your looking to move on from all your old sets sitting in your closet, looking for that piece you lost or stepped on and throw into the yard (may or may not have happened/allegedly) or just looking for a new lego build.
This place is the place for you.
Even if you’re not a lego fan I would recommend checking it out!
I told my wife we went and checked out the new lego place coming to our town.
She smiled and just said one word.
“Nerds.”
Damn right.
