Be a Better Networker: Why We’re Hosting This Event

Networking isn’t just about collecting business cards or getting referrals—it’s about showing up as your best self, clearly and confidently, in every room you walk into. That’s why I’m so excited to team up with Coach Mike Davis for a brand-new event designed to help you do just that.
It’s called Be a Better Networker, and it’s happening Friday, May 23rd from 1–3 PM at Neighbors Network in Conover.
In this our latest episode, Coach Mike and I sit down to unpack how this event came together and why we both felt so strongly about creating something hands-on, high-impact, and genuinely useful for business professionals at every stage. Whether you’re brand new to networking or have years of experience, sharpening your 30-second pitch is one of the most valuable things you can do. It’s your first impression—and for many, the moment where trust begins.
Coach Mike will lead the first half of the event, showing us how to craft a pitch that actually connects, and more importantly, how to adapt it for different rooms. After that, I’ll share a few real strategies for networking with purpose—ways to build real relationships, not just transactions.
The final portion of the event brings it all together with a Mini Networking Meeting, giving participants a chance to apply what they’ve learned in a guided, low-pressure setting. We’ll close things out with a special presentation from Jay Brown of Jay Brown Realtors, who will share insights on how networking has shaped his business and what keeps him showing up for his community.
It’s $50 to attend, and we’re limiting it to 35 participants so it stays focused and impactful. You’ll leave this event with more than just ideas—you’ll leave with clarity, connection, and confidence.
More importantly, this event is a reflection of what we believe here at the Hickory Algorithm: we grow stronger when we learn together.
