Your enough. Remember that.
With Spring breathing her beautiful life into our homes it can be so fun looking down the road and what the warmer weather brings. The daylight becoming later, the weather breaking, and being able to look up at that beautiful North Carolina blue sky. One of my favorite quotes by the great American poet, Bruce Springsteen is in the song, Nothing man. Out of all the great songs, the incredible lyrics, and with his music will live on forever. One line sticks with me the most, and it is so basic but rings so true to the blossoming of Spring.
There is something about that blue sky when Spring is blossoming. It reminds me that no matter how much I am going through. Bills, work, relationships, car troubles, politics, religion, and social structures but when I walk outside and the sun hits my face and I look up at the sky.
“The sky's still, the same unbelievable blue.” - Bruce Springsteen
Youth sports can get a bad rap.
Parents sometimes live vicariously through their children, believing they’ll land a $100 million deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates at 13. Honestly, I’m not sure which odds are worse: the Pirates offering that contract or our kids making it to the pros.
Youth sports have become a whirlwind popularity contest. Sound familiar?
The coach runs a travel team and offers private sessions on the side. You have to pay to be part of that group. If you don’t, your child isn’t playing with their teammates anymore—maybe because they’re not “serious enough”—and suddenly both your kid and your family feel left on the outside looking in.
What happens next? You spend every weekend traveling to tournaments, shelling out money for something that might end in a year or two. Worst of all, you become numb to it, assuming your child is still having fun.
It’s happened to me. It’s happened to countless others.
If there’s no #fortheloveofthegame … then what are we doing?
I went on Coach Mike Now Podcast to discuss youth sports. We discussed youth sports highs and lows, our favorite stories, and we made an hour feel like 5 minutes.
And honestly? Conversations like this remind me why we do it in the first place.

Youth sports are about more than just the game—they’re about community, teamwork, and growth. Getting kids outside and working toward a common goal, whether it’s a championship or a small trophy, teaches valuable life lessons. Through teamwork, they learn the importance of communication, helping others, and persevering together. Wins and losses both offer opportunities for growth, showing kids that achieving goals is often a team effort. Beyond the field or court, youth sports help build friendships, foster community spirit, and create lasting memories that shape them for the future.
Ask a coach their favorite memory in coaching - it won’t be a championship but if it is 🤔
See you at a field nearby.

The Original Algorithm: Quality People. Quality Networking.
In a world flooded with digital platforms, marketing strategies, and the latest “must-try” tools, it’s easy to forget that the best business growth tool has been around since the dawn of humanity—people connecting with people.
At Hickory Algorithm, we believe in leveraging modern strategies like social media, podcasts, and content marketing. But none of it matters if you’re not surrounding yourself with quality people. The rooms we are in matter. That’s why our Members Only space focuses on more than just strategy—we’re about relationships. Real connections that don’t require an app or algorithm to thrive.
Business has always been built on trust, handshakes, and shared stories over coffee. Platforms change, but people? People are the constant. And when you bring quality people together, that’s where the magic happens.
If you’re looking for a space where old-school business values meet modern innovation, the Hickory Algorithm Members Only community is where you belong.

🎼 BRAND NEW DINNER PLAYLIST 🎼
Headspace (Music playlist) ∣ Hickory Algorithm <~~~~ LINK
This Hickory Algorithm playlist features nothing but the band Def Leppard. BUT, be prepared this may not be the Def Leppard from the 1900s - as my kids say.
Here is the track list and a little background of each track:
Gravity - “Gravity - is driving me… insanity inside of me, it’s like I’m wide awake!”
Long, Long Way to Go - Def Leppard were so convinced they could still “chart” they starting leaning into songs written by other artists. A great slow break up song.
Hysteria (featuring Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) - certain songs when you hear them just take you back to a time and place. Hysteria, takes me back to 1999, waiting the locker area in High School waiting for (NOW - WIFE) my girlfriend to get off her bus and come to the locker. Hysteria, hit play as soon as my back leaned up against the pillar to wait. Great touch with the orchestra.
9 songs in total from deep cuts, remakes, and covers.
I enjoy having music on at my house whenever I am home. If you have been to our studio you have seen the records on the wall.
