The Hickory Algorithm is a marketing agency and community hub dedicated to celebrating the stories, culture, and businesses that make Hickory, North Carolina - my favorite. Each Newsletter spotlights solutions, experiences, and a different perspective to help you, the small business owner with insights, inspiration and strategies for personal and professional growth.
After writing a 3 part Star Wars like manifesto of the Art of Networking, this week I got a pin in front of fellow 100 business owners in Mooresville, North Carolina Mega Meeting. A nice cherry on top of the Art of Networking sage for the Hickory Algorithm.
🔥 100 Out of 100 – The Power of One in Action! 🔥
This may just be a pin, but to me, it’s a symbol. A symbol of the time, effort, and commitment I’ve poured into networking around Hickory and North Carolina—not just for myself, but for Hickory Algorithm and the businesses we support.
Networking isn’t just about showing up; it’s about building relationships, creating opportunities, and making connections that drive real growth.
Every introduction, every follow-up, every moment spent helping others succeed is an investment. And the stronger my network becomes, the stronger yours does too. 💪
💡 That’s the power of real networking. It’s not just about who you know—it’s about who knows you.

Sitting around New Year’s eve with my family playing board games and enjoying the company, my wife busted out some snacks. Normally, she is making things like homemade egg rolls, hot and sour soup, or some Chinese cuisine for New Years. She brings it.
I had a box of pop tarts and pasted them out to the family while playing games. We ended up talking about Pop Tarts for hours, calling family back in Pittsburgh and then I posted on social media. The post struck up over 40 comments with people talking about their ritual of eating their favorite pastry.
My old son went thru step by step of how he prefers his toasted. 🥵
My middle son is still finding his way around a pop tart 👻
My youngest son just eats it, bite by bite, like some animal. 🦔
People butter on their pop tart 🤯
Break it in half 👹(Monsters)
There is only one way to eat the pop tart. Nonfrosted Crust first, and then crust with icing, and then eat the middle frosted section and you really can’t tell me any different - this IS the way!
Pop Tarts have become part of viewing events at the Goldby house. We pick our favorite snacks for events in our home. The Royal Rumble just pasted and our middle son went to Publix to pick out everyone’s favorite treats recently. He picked Pop Tarts for our oldest son so the conversations revved up again in my house!
…its just a fun conversation and I hope to see you THIS SATURDAY - 8th!

Heart Health: Why Women’s Cardiac Health Needs Special Attention
by: Midwife Maven
February is Heart Health Month, and it’s the perfect time to shine a spotlight on women’s cardiac health—because heart disease is the #1 killer of women. You might be surprised to learn that women often experience different heart symptoms than men, and they may not even realize they’re at risk until it's too late. That’s why it’s so important to raise awareness through the Go Red for Women campaign!
Women’s hearts are unique in many ways. For example, women tend to have smaller arteries, which can make them more susceptible to blockages that lead to heart attacks. Hormonal changes—especially during menopause—can also increase heart disease risk. Plus, women are more likely to experience "atypical" heart attack symptoms, like nausea or jaw pain, which can make diagnosis tricky.
The good news is that many heart disease risk factors are preventable! Managing stress, staying active, eating a heart-healthy diet, and scheduling regular check-ups with your healthcare provider can make a huge difference. It's also important to pay attention to family history, as genetics play a key role.
Now is the time to take action! Wear red this month to raise awareness, and encourage the women in your life to take care of their hearts. Remember, it's not just about surviving—it's about thriving. Take charge of your health today.
If you have questions about your heart health or any other aspect of women’s wellness, Midwife Maven is here to support you! Whether you need expert advice, guidance, or just someone to talk to, don’t hesitate to reach out. Your heart deserves the best care!

🎼 BRAND NEW DINNER PLAYLIST 🎼
Def Leppard Dinner / Background Playlist <~~~~ LINK
This new Hickory Algorithm playlist features nothing but the band Def Leppard. BUT, be prepared this may not be the Def Leppard from the 1900s, as my kids say.
Here is the track list and a little background of each track:
Stand by me - Remake of the classic track, top tier vocals by Joe Elliot. Surprisingly great.
Animal - a Def Leppard classic but with a orchestra
Spillways - a ghost song but duet with Def Leppard
10 songs in total from deep cuts, remakes, and covers.
I enjoy having music on at my house whenever I am home. If you have been to our studio you have seen the records on the wall.
Every month I update this playlist with what is being played at my house. This is the February update 👀
